Bedford County Farm Bureau offered a chance for voters last week to connect with the people running for office in the community at their “Meet the Candidates” event on April 10.

Hosted at the Bedford County Agriculture Center, over 160 people including 31 contenders for County Mayor, Board of Commissioners, Sheriff and more were present with booths.

Bedford County Farm Bureau President Matt Ledbetter explained that the organization wanted to offer access to the vast field of candidates to promote voter engagement.

“With such a large field of candidates this year, we wanted voters to have a chance to meet these people and to encourage them to be involved,” he said. “Us at Farm Bureau shared this sentiment, so we decided to put everybody in the same room with this event.”

Ledbetter also expressed his appreciation for the Ag Center.

“We are lucky to be able to have a place to host these kinds of events.”
