Community struggled to generate offense against district opponents this week, dropping three games to Summertown and Eagleville despite solid pitching performances and competitive stretches.
Summertown – 3, Community – 0
Community couldn’t find the timely hit Monday night, falling 3-0 to Summertown in a tightly played district matchup defined by pitching and missed opportunities.
The Vikings were limited to just three hits on the night, with Josh Powers, Brody Armstrong and Logan Reed each recording one. Community put the ball in play for most of the night, striking out only three times, but struggled to string together offense against a steady Summertown staff.
Despite the loss, Wes Haley delivered a gritty performance on the mound, going the distance and keeping the Vikings within striking distance throughout.
Haley scattered eight hits over six innings, allowing three runs while striking out four and working around traffic in multiple innings.
Summertown – 10, Community – 0
A pair of big innings proved decisive Tuesday night as Summertown broke open a scoreless game with back-to-back four-run frames, handing Community a 10-0 defeat.
After two quiet innings, Summertown seized momentum in the third, stringing together timely hits to plate four runs.
The visitors kept the pressure on in the fourth with another four-run outburst, stretching the lead to 8-0 and putting the game firmly in control.
Community struggled to find rhythm at the plate, managing just two hits.
Tyler Wood and Logan Reed each recorded a hit for the Vikings.
On the mound, Wood worked 3.1 innings allowing eight earned runs with three strikeouts and two walks. Josh Powers finished things up allowing two unearned runs over the final 3.2 innings while striking out five and walking five.
Eagleville – 9, Community – 2
A big second inning proved too much for Community to overcome Thursday night as Eagleville used a six-run surge to pull away for a 9-2 win over the Vikings.
Community showed early life, but the game turned quickly in the bottom of the second when Eagleville strung together timely hits to break things open.
The Eagles sent 10 batters to the plate in the frame, building a lead the Vikings were unable to chip away.
The Vikings finished with four hits on the night and found some production in the middle of the lineup. Wes Haley led the way, going 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and a run scored. Isaiah Beech added a solo home run and drove in a run, while Masyn Hill contributed an RBI.
On the mound, Logan Reed got the start and worked through three innings, allowing six runs (two earned) on five hits while striking out four and walking four.
Isaiah Beech provided relief, tossing 2 2/3 innings and giving up three runs on four hits with two strikeouts. Maddox Thompson recorded the final out in relief.
Community (5-17, 0-6), will be back in action on Monday as they travel to Cascade for the first of two games in their last regular season district series of the year. Community will host on Tuesday. Both games are scheduled for 6:00 P.M.
