Shelbyville Central’s quest for a state championship got off to a difficult start Tuesday as Ravenwood used a relentless offensive attack to hand the Golden Eagles a 13-2 loss in the opening game of the TSSAA Class 4A State Baseball Tournament at Siegel High School.

Ravenwood wasted little time taking command, piling up 15 hits and capitalizing on several Shelbyville miscues to build an early cushion before pulling away in the middle innings.

Despite the setback, the Golden Eagles continued to battle offensively. Stephen Bobo led Shelbyville with a 2-for-3 performance and scored a run, while Caden Peacock delivered both RBIs for the Eagles. Miles McCullough added a double and scored, and Blake Bone and Carson Burke each contributed hits.

Shelbyville finished with six hits but struggled to slow Ravenwood’s lineup, which consistently pressured the defense and produced timely hits throughout the night.

Kaleb Maillet took the loss after working 4 2/3 innings. Ashton Whorley, Camron Burke and Eli Westbrooks provided relief innings for the Golden Eagles.

The loss moves Shelbyville Central (31-10), into an elimination game at 10:00 A.M. versus Oak Ridge as the Golden Eagles look to keep their season alive in the state tournament.
