After suffering back to back walk-off losses to start the week, Cascade made sure there would be no late drama Wednesday night, pulling away early and cruising to a 12-2 win over Forrest.
Oakland – 6, Cascade – 5
Cascade saw a late lead slip away Sunday as Oakland rallied in its final at-bat to hand the Lady Champions a 6-5 walk-off defeat.
Holding a 5-4 advantage entering the bottom of the seventh, Cascade was one out away before Oakland capitalized on a single and scored the tying and winning run.
Cascade built its lead with a strong third inning. MoMo Bilbro led the offensive effort, going 3-for-4 with a double and two singles, while Makenzie Fisher drove in a team-high four runs. MaKayla Fisher added two hits and scored twice. Caroline Parker and Kenzie Bledsoe also had hits for Cascade.
In the circle, Jocelyn Laughlin turned in a gritty complete-game effort, allowing 10 hits and six runs (three earned) over 6 2/3 innings while striking out six without issuing a walk.
Eagleville – 5, Cascade – 4
A back-and-forth battle came down to the final inning Monday night, with Eagleville pushing across the go-ahead run in the seventh to slip past Cascade 5-4 in a tightly contested matchup.
Cascade jumped out early, plating two runs in the opening inning and maintaining control through much of the night behind steady offense and solid pitching.
The Lady Champions finished with 11 hits, highlighted by a strong showing from Jocelyn Laughlin, who went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead the lineup. MoMo Bilbro added two hits and scored twice, while contributions from Caroline Parker, Kenzie Bledsoe, and Leah Tapp helped keep the Lady Champions within striking distance. Makayla and MaKenzie Fisher added a hit each with MaKayla having a RBI.
Eagleville chipped away, however, breaking through with a three-run fifth inning to take the lead before Cascade answered with single runs in the fifth and sixth to even the score at 4-4.
In the circle, Shalan Burt turned in a gritty performance, working 6 2/3 innings while allowing just five hits and no earned runs. Burt also helped her own cause with a single.
With the game tied entering the final frame, Eagleville capitalized late, pushing across the decisive run to complete the comeback and hand Cascade a tough one-run loss.
Cascade – 12, Forrest – 2
A dominant second inning and a stellar all-around performance from Jocelyn Laughlin powered Cascade to a 12-2 run-rule victory over Forrest on Wednesday.
Laughlin was the difference-maker on both sides of the game, driving in five runs on three hits — including a three-run home run — while also delivering a strong outing in the circle.
The right-hander allowed just two runs on four hits over five innings, striking out seven and walking two.
Cascade broke the game open early, erupting for eight runs in the second inning to seize control. Caroline Parker and Alayna Cruse each delivered RBI singles, MaKayla Fisher added a run-scoring double, and Laughlin capped the surge with a three-run blast to center field.
The Lady Champions continued to apply pressure throughout, adding four more runs and finishing with 11 hits as a team. Cruse and Fisher each collected multiple hits, while Parker drove in two runs.
Cascade (4-8, 1-4) returns to action Monday at home against Columbia. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 P.M.
